Imaginary vs Reality... Which life are you living in?
Updated: May 22, 2023

Have you ever thought of what your life would look like compared to what your current reality is right now? Okay next question…
After reading that first sentence was your afterthought similar to one of the following:
“thank God my life isn’t what I thought it would be!”
“I have imagined a beautiful life for myself, and I am currently living it!!!"
“I mean life's alright... I wish I was in another stage of life, but that is not my reality.”
To be completely honest I think I fall into all 3 of those categories. Maybe you do too, or maybe you identify more with just one or two.
Let me explain.
My perception of life from My Imaginary Self (aka where I think I should already be in life) vs. My True Reality Self that is living, breathing, and typing right now in the too cute Commonwealth coffee shop in San Antonio, TX honestly depends on the day, what type of week I'm having and just how life's been playing out. Sometimes I look at "greener pastures" at My Imaginary Self other times My True Reality Self is what I enjoy more. It's honestly scenario based.
Hopefully you are following, but here's a personal example I feel like a lot of us can relate to:
---- On one hand, I vehemently love being independent and single! Taking advantage of the luxuries it brings like traveling, shopping, picking up extra shifts at work, funny first date stories and having the availability to make last minute plans with friends brings me a lot of joy. It's something I didn’t think I would enjoy as much as I do as a twenty-seven year old but it comes with a lot of perks.
---- Other times I find myself on a nice cool Saturday night, with everyone busy, and a stark feeling arises that deep down, well maybe not too deep down, I wish I could have a movie night with a special someone. For some reason I thought I'd already be in that state of life with someone I can vent to when my day goes bad, a man I can share my life with and to give me a kiss on the forehead and tell me I’m beautiful (I mean what girl doesn’t want that…am I right ladies?).”
All this to say is you CAN have dreams, wants, desires & goals! But that SHOULDN'T take away from the BEAUTY of every day living!

Some BIG goals I have in the next 5 years are:
buying a house, promoting at work, learn Spanish fluently, and get married and start a family.
Smaller goals I have are:
to continue to travel the world, keep daily prayer a priority, expand my cooking skills, be more intentional with my friendships & dating, stay active, healthy and focus more on self-development.
These things won't happen overnight... so in the meantime I want to take in all the little beautiful things in life along the way to all my BIG & small goals.
And I want to do it as joyfully as possible!
Starting a blog was one way I wanted to document all those BIG & small goals I have for myself.
Being a writer I believe you never write something down that isn’t what you are truly feeling. Sitting down and sitting with your own thoughts is so healthy and one of the ways I like to do this is through writing.
So follow along for the randomness of my life all the adventures.
Hopefully it's a reminder that life may not always look like what you pictured, but that doesn’t mean that its any LESS beautiful & sometimes EVEN BETTER then what you could have imagined on your own.
