A Love Story about Blueberry Muffins & Coffee
Sometimes all you need in life is an overpriced coffee and big blueberry muffin.

Life lately has been going 100 MPH.
A non-stop rush of travel, overtime at work, some heartache, work drama, birthdays, bachelorette, life changes and a lot of no rest days. A constant go, go, go is my life right now.
I think I need to take a step back and preface thatI love staying busy. In fact, I would say I thrive in it. Those closest to me would also agree... most of the time.
But every once in a while I’m reminded there is great worth in slowing things down.
A few days ago I got back from a birthday trip and got so sick! I slept 7 hours during the day and another 10 hours at night before I had to go into a 24-hour shift the next morning.
Laying in bed that night, I thought to myself, wow I guess my body is forcing me to rest.
There is a quote by Dorothy Day, a famous journalist and social activist who is in the canonization process, who said “My strength returns to me with my cup of coffee and reading of the Psalms.”

My 2023 take of Dorothy Day's advice is when I walk into Merit Coffee and order an overpriced coffee and blueberry muffin with the sole intention of enjoying a slow Saturday morning at @ The Pearl.
Sitting there, sipping my coffee, I'm forced to admit to myself that sometimes I make life too busy....so much so it's actually a disservice to myself.
I am too focused on packing my days to the brim that I forget that there can be a limit of doing “too much” for your own good which negatively affects my Physical, Mental and Spiritual well-being!
Taking another delicious bite of my blueberry muffin, was the deciding factor that this month would be dedicated to living a more balanced life. Allow myself to take a step back & have slow easy-going days like this morning. Not to see it as “wasted time,” but rather enjoying life in the still small moments. On the April list is visiting friends, avoid overbooking my calendar, take an afternoon nap (with no guilt) and schedule more
quiet moments with my Maker & I.
I think “grind season” is great… but there also comes a time when relaxing and taking it easy is just as valuable to life. Your inspiration picture is me drinking a cappuccino in Italy looking like an old lady! haha
So let’s cheers to a relaxing, self-reflective April!
